Matjaz Vidmar

Research Assistant

Matjaz is a PhD student in Science, Technology and Innovation Studies at the University of Edinburgh.

He is an interdisciplinary researcher, studying innovation and its societal co-construction, on micro (firms, research organisations, practices), meso (networks, actors) and macro level (policy, interventions). Matjaz is mainly examining the development of New Space Industry in Scotland, with an increasing interest in the use of Satellite Data in urban environment and in agricultural contexts, and specifically involvement of different actors (researchers, brokers, users) the new product development processes. He deploys strategic multi-sited ethnography (Biography of Artefacts and Practices Approach), social network analysis and participatory action research and he is working with external stakeholders, both in industry (SMEs, corporations), policy and intermediation (STFC, Innovate UK, OECD, etc.) and with general public (in public engagement).
