James Stewart

Co-founder and Senior Research Fellow

James is a Lecturer in Science Technology and Innovation Studies at The University of Edinburgh.

He researches and teaches on how families, communities, public services, industries and society appropriate new information and communication technologies. James has long experience working on the social inclusion and the digital divide, including developing evidence and analysis for how successive generations of information technologies are being shaped to support people and professionals in areas such as elderly care, social inclusion and employability.

Since 2013 he has been developing the Edinburgh Living Lab project, and as a founder, promoting opportunities to closer links between university researcher and students and rest of Edinburgh, including how new data tools can support more inclusive participation in local governance.
